Cheap home loans till 2013.

Homeowners were given a welcome boost yesterday with experts predicting no interest rate rise until 2013.

The forecast by Britain's biggest building society Nationwide came as it reported a 48 per cent increase in mortgage lending.

This was helped by homebuyers taking advantage of the record low base rate of just 0.5 per cent for the past 32 months.

Nationwide said: "Prospects for the remainder of 2011-12 and 2012-13 are very challenging and we do not expect the Bank of England to lift the base rate until 2013."
