During the credit bubble, under-the-counter deals to attract, or keep, mortgage customers were commonplace.
But now borrowers are being offered incentives to leave their lender and take their home loans elsewhere, according to leading mortgage brokers.
The prospect of higher costs, combined with the possibility of a renewed credit crunch, is leading some lenders to examine ways of ejecting less profitable customers.
